Drugs-In-Fufu@La Police Station

The trick of a young man to get past the police with drugs concealed in fufu to a remand prisoner failed to work against the smarter police guards at the La police station last Friday.

Abdul Rahman, a 20 year old photographer was arrested when police at the Charge office found wraps of suspected Indian hemp and cocaine he had hidden in fufu meant for a remand prisoner Benjamin Agudah, Police has said.

Accra Regional Police Commander, Douglas Akrofi Asiedu said Rahman brought fufu and soup to the Charge Office for Agudah but the suspicious police on duty suspected the food to a thorough examination. They found five wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp and eight wraps of whitish substances suspected to be cocaine hidden in the fufu.

ACP Asiedu quoted Rahman as saying in his caution statement that the food was given to him by a man he met on his way to visit Agudah. He denied knowing that the food contained illicit drugs.
Mr Asiedu commended the personnel on duty for their alertness and diligence.
