Driver's mate remanded for indecent assault

Cape Coast, April 15, GNA- A circuit court in Cape Coast, on Tuesday remanded a 22-year-0ld driver's mate from Mankessim for allegedly indecently assaulting a 10-year-old pupil of the Mankessim Methodist primary school. Eric Quansah, the accused, pleaded not guilty and would reappear at court on Monday April 29.

Chief Inspector Augustine Amonoo told the court presided over by Mr Beresford Acquah, that both the girl and Quansah lived in the same area at Mankessim. Prosecution said on April 8, this year, Quansah lured the victim and her younger sister to an obscure place under a bridge near their area. Chief Inspector Amonoo told the court that whiles under the bridge, the suspect gave his bicycle to the victim's sister to ride to town. Prosecution said after the victim's sister left, Quansah put the victim on his laps, engaged her in conversation and inserted his fingers into her private part.

Chief Inspector Amonoo said the victim narrated the story to the mother in the night when she (victim) was asked why she could not sleep. Prosecution said the parents of the girl reported the matter to the police at Mankessim, who referred it to Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) in Cape Coast.
