Driver fined for plying trade without insurance and road-worthiness

Hohoe, Oct 4, GNA - Malik Musah, a commercial driver has been sentenced to a fine of 200 Ghana Cedis for driving without insurance certificate and failure to produce road-worthiness certificate. Musah, who pleaded guilty, was sentenced on his plea by a Hohoe Magistrate court, presided over by Ms Janet Awo Bakudie. He would serve an additional 12 months in hard labour in default. Prosecuting Police Inspector, Emmanuel Kpodo told the court that personnel of the Hohoe Divisional Motor, Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU) on motor check on the Likpe-Hohoe road network, intercepted Musah then driving a Mazda mini bus with registration number GT 597 F. He said Musah failed to produce the insurance and the road-worthiness policy covering the bus, so was arrested, processed and put before court. The court convicted Musah on own plea of guilty and fine accordingly with the fines running concurrently. 4 Oct. 08
