Court sentences herbalist to 10 years for defilement

A herbalist arrested for defiling a 12-year old class three pupil, has been ordered by a Kumasi Circuit Court to be held in jail for 10 years.

Issah Inusah, 23, pleaded not guilty to the crime.

Chief Inspector Sylvanus D´Almeida told the court presided over by Justice Rita Agyemang-Budu, that the convict and the victim live in the same neighborhood at Abirem, near Kenyase in the Kwabre East District.

The young girl had attended an all night service with the mother and had come home to urinate when Inusah lured her into a wooden structure and defiled her.

At another time – the victim was returning from an errand when the convict convinced her to follow him to his room. Once again, he sexually abused the girl.

She decided to tell the parents about it and a formal report was made to the police.

The prosecution said a medical report signed by doctors who attended to the victim confirmed that she had indeed been defiled.
