Court remands 50 year- old farmer for defilement

Tarkwa, Oct. 19, GNA - A Tarkwa circuit court has remanded Kwadwo Appiah, a 50-year-old farmer into prison custody for defiling a 15 year old school drop-out. He pleaded not guilty and will re-appear on October 21. Prosecuting Police Chief Inspector Paddy told the court presided over by Mr. Samuel Obeng Diawuo, that the complainant Mathias Mawudoe is the uncle of the victim who lives with the grandmother at Senchem near Atieku. He said at about 1600 hours on September 20 this year, the victim's grandmother sent her to give a bowl to one Christiana in a nearby house. On her way back, the accused person who is also a friend to the victim's grandmother lured her into a nearby school, and had sexual intercourse with her.

The suspect allegedly cautioned the victim that he will kill her if she revealed the incident to anybody.

Chief Inspector Paddy said, due to the threat the accused succeeded in defiling the victim on three different occasions. The prosecutor said however, luck run out on him when during the third act, the victim's brother caught him red-handed, but managed to escape. He said the suspect was arrested by unit committee members in the town and taken to Atieku police station where a complaint was lodged. The victim was issued with a medical form, which confirmed that she has been defiled.
