Court orders the arrest of Businessman

A Circuit Court in Accra has ordered the arrest of a businessman, Christian Banini for failing to appear before it.

Banini, who is accused of issuing a dud cheque, did not turn up, when the matter was called before the court presided over by Mr M.E Essandoh.

Prosecution Chief Inspector Francis Tassan therefore prayed the court for a bench warrant.

The matter has been adjourned to October 29.

The case of Chief Inspector Tassan was that, the complainant, Lawrence Kusi, is a businessman residing at New Fadama in Accra, whilst Banini also lives at North Kaneshie.

During the month of March, 2013, Mr Kusi sold a Toyota Corolla to Banini at a cost of GH 14,000 cedis.

Banini initially made part payment of GHC 3,000 and issued a cheque with the face value of GHC 11,000 to the complainant to cash same two days later.

When the cheque was presented at the bank it was dishonoured.

Prosecution said on the second occasion, Banini issued another cheque with the face value of GHc 6,000 and it was also dishonoured.

The complainant, therefore, lodged a complaint with the Police at Osu and Banini was arrested.

During interrogation Banini admitted issuing the cheques.
