Court orders rider to pay fine of GH¢2,500.00

Nkawie (Ash) July 2, GNA - A motorcycle rider, who carelessly run into a group of students of the Toase Senior High School, thus killing two of them and injuring 12 others, has been ordered by an Nkawie Circuit Court to pay a fine GH¢2,500.00. Ernest Yeboah would in default serve 12 months imprisonment in hard la= bour.

He pleaded not guilty to the offence. The court presided over by Justice Jerome Noble Nkrumah heard that on March 28, 2009, the students were on routine morning endurance exercise, walking and jogging at about 0530 hours. Yeboah, then riding a Cavina motor-bike from Bibiani to Kumasi, run through them resulting in the deaths and injuries. He, consequently, was arrested and charged with the crime.
