Court grants banker GH¢ 40,000 bail

Iddrisu Ibrahim Mohammend, a micro-finance field officer of the Bogoso branch of the Fiaseman rural bank limited, has been granted GH¢40,000 bail for stealing GH¢37,594.35 belonging to the bank.

He pleaded not guilty and will re-appear before the court on June 11.

Prosecuting, Detective Chief Inspector Oscar Amponsah told the court presided over by Mr. Samuel Obeng Diawuo that, in February this year, the complainant, who is the micro-finance coordinator of the bank in the same branch detected certain irregularities in the official records of the accused person at the bank.

He said the complainant therefore drew the attention of management of the bank and on March 30, a report was made to the police and the accused person was arrested for investigation.

Detective Amponsah said the accused was later released on bail to submit himself before an auditing team appointed by the bank.

According to the Prosecutor, official records of the accused were audited by the auditing team and on May 9, a report submitted by the head of audit indicated that a total amount of GH¢37,594.35 has been misappropriated by the accused person.**
