Businessman in court for threatening

A Cape Coast Circuit Court on Tuesday granted bail to Jibreel Abubakar, a 38 year old businessman charged for threatening to kill a tanker driver at Moree in the Central Region.

Abubakar pleaded not guilty to death threat and was granted the bail to the sum of GH?20,000.00 with two sureties, one to be justified. He will re-appear before the court on Wednesday June 25.

Prosecuting, Police Inspector Samuel Amoako told the court presided over by Mrs. Eva Bannerman-Williams, that the complainant Peter Annan, alias Uncle Ebo is a driver, resident at Moree Junction while Abubakar resides at Eguase, near Moree Junction.

He said on May 9, 2014 at about 09:00 am, Annan was off-loading goods at the Star Filling Station at Moree Junction, when Abubakar confronted him on the issue of off-loading the goods there, claiming that the station was under dispute between him (Abubakar) and his siblings.

He said Annan did not heed to Abubakar's assertion and Abubakar subsequently threatened to kill Annan.

Police Inspector Amoako said Annan, being aware that Abubakar had been arrested before for murder, became terrified after the threat and reported the case to the Central Regional Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Police in Cape Coast.

He said Abubakar was arrested on May 18, but he denied threatening Annan in his caution statement.
