Businessman appears before court for stealing

Sekondi, March 24, GNA - A Sekondi District Magistrate's Court on Friday granted bail to Johnny Ebo Adams, a businessman resident at Bankyease, near Takoradi, in the sum of 10 million cedis with one surety for allegedly stealing 512 pieces of cement blocks valued at 2,560,000 cedis. Adams, who pleaded not guilty, is to re-appear on April 20 this year.

Prosecuting, Police Inspector Andam Okyere, said Stephen Kwofie, a driver resident at Apremdo, bought 1,724 pieces of cement for a building project and deposited them at the project site at Apremdo. Inspector Okyere said for sometime, Kwofie, who had detected the theft of his blocks, discovered that some the accused had used blocks bearing his identification marks to construct a wall around his house. He said the complainant made a report to the Police and the accused was arrested. Inspector Okyere said the accused admitted the offence to the Police but stated that he stole only 15 pieces of the blocks.
