Block machine operator granted bail for stealing

A cement block machine operator, Andrews Kwaha, has been granted bail in the sum of GH¢ 25,000 with two sureties, for stealing.

He pleaded not guilty.

Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Oscar Amponsah, told a Tarkwa Circuit Court, presided over by Mr Justice Emmanuel Bart-Plange Brew, that the complainant, Eric Kwame Mensah employed the accused, Kwaha, as a foreman and sales boy in his block factory at Cyanide, a suburb of Tarkwa.

He said on April 22, the complainant conducted an inspection at the block factory and found GH¢ 580.00 hidden in a drawer.

Chief Inspector Amponsah said the complainant then questioned Kwaha about the money and the accused claimed ownership.

He said the accused later confessed stealing the money from the factory.

Chief Inspector Amponsah said the complainant decided to undertake audit of the stock at the shop and discovered that 8,293 pieces of cement blocks valued at GH¢ 25,008,00 could not be accounted for.

The complainant, therefore, reported the matter to the Police.

Kwaha admitted stealing only GH¢ 1,080.00 from the shop and not GH¢ 25,008.00 as quoted by the complainant.
