Bawjiase Police asked to arrest accused

Agona Swedru, (C/R), May 22, GNA -- An Agona Swedru circuit court has asked the Awutu-Bawjiase police to intensify their search for Eric Amonquandoh, an unemployed man for jumping court bail for about two months now.

Amonquandoh is accused of stealing 8,000,000 Cedis (Eight Million Cedis), four cartons of Quacker Oats and one-half piece of wax print all valued at about 12 million cedis, the property of Madam Comfort Ainooson, a trader at Bawjiase.

Bench warrant for the arrest of the accused was issued on April 27 and since then efforts to grab Amonquandoh had proved unsuccessful. This was after the accused, who was initially placed in prison custody by the court to enable the police to complete their investigations on the case early in the year, had persistently failed to appear before the court for further hearing of the case.

The prosecution had, at an earlier sitting, told the court that sometime in December last year, Madam Ainooson reported the theft of her eight million cedis and other personal belongings to the Bawjiase police and subsequent investigations led to the arrest of the accused.
