Another murder hits Tema

A 39-year-old worker at the Ministry of Education office in Tema, Arnold Nii Tackie, alias Nii Ofori, has allegedly been murdered at his residence at Community 1 Site 6, Tema, by unknown assailants in what most people believed to be contract killing.

Three unidentified men were reported to have scaled over the fence wall – with their foot prints on the wall – to gain access into the house.

The killers allegedly held Arnold, who was attached to the Finance and Procurement Unit of the Education Ministry, as well as his relative hostage in his (Arnold’s) bedroom before he was shot in his right chest.

According to some residents, a gunshot was heard in Arnold’s residence and some of them came out from their rooms and saw some unidentified persons bolting but could not contact the police immediately.

Most of the residents who were yet to come to terms with recent killings at Tema, said they were living in fear.

Reliable information gathered by the DAILY GUIDE indicated that Arnold recently told close relations that he was expecting some huge money but did not disclose the source of the supposed money.

Arnold last Wednesday was reported to have returned from work early as usual in an extremely excited mood but failed to tell anyone the secret behind his joyful disposition.

A night before his untimely death, he was said to be eating with some friends and relatives in his house when he received a call from someone asking to meet him for a business transaction, but he rather asked the caller to come to his house for the transaction.

He was said to have retired to bed in his one-storey house with a relative whose name was only given as Nana, who had travelled from Kumasi to visit him, although the relative was sleeping in a different room downstairs. According to a source, the relative was woken up at about 2:00 am by three masked men.

The assailants, at gun point, allegedly searched the bedroom where Nana was passing the night and demanded to know the whereabouts of Arnold Nii Tackie.

Immediately Arnold opened the door, one of the attackers allegedly demanded for his money but he said he did not have any money in the house, thereby causing one of the assailants to shoot him.

Earnest Nii Tackie, younger brother of Arnold, confirmed the incident to the DAILY GUIDE saying he was informed by his younger sister about the shooting of Arnold and so he rushed to the scene.

According to him, his brother was alive and so he quickly rushed him to the Tema General Hospital for but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Beatrice Zakpaa-Sankiri, the Tema Regional Police Commander, led a team of police personnel from the Community One District Police Command and the Regional Crime Scene Investigative Department to the scene to commence investigations into the matter.
