35-year barber defiled 5-year class one pupil

Hohoe, April 15, GNA - Razak Ibrahim, alias Gado, a 35-year old barber of Kpassa in the newly created Nkwanta North District, was last Monday sentenced to 12 years' jail term by a Hohoe circuit court for defiling a five-year-old class one pupil. Ibrahim pleaded guilty to defiling the minor.

Prosecuting Police Chief Inspector, Samuel Gbedemah told the court supervised by Mr Samuel Sarpong-Appiah that, Ibrahim and the victim lived in the same vicinity, precisely, 50 metres apart. He said on March 10, this year at Kpassa, the accused lured the unsuspecting girl into his room on the pretext of giving her money to buy cigarettes for him and defiled her.

Mr Gbedemah said Ibrahim after the act, threatened to kill the victim if she told anyone, but fate eluded him when the victim's mother detected change in her walking.Mr Gbedemah said the victim later named Ibrahim as the one who defiled her leading to his arrest and consequent prosecution. Ibrahim who pleaded for leniency attributed the offence to the work of the devil.
