10 years for "wee" possession

Tarkwa, Oct.01, GNA-A Tarkwa Circuit Court has sentenced a 33-year-old galamsey operator, Kofi Iddrisu, alias Lucky Dube to 10 years imprisonment for possession of Indian hemp. He pleaded guilty.

Prosecuting, Police Inspector Florence Tawiah, said on March 17 last year, the Police had information that the suspect who had then been arrested and was in Police custody was wanted for his involvement in an armed robbery case, was a drug peddler.

He led the Police to his ghetto at Prestea but on reaching the place, one Rasta and one other who were in charge of the ghetto bolted on seeing the Police but Anthony Kofi Arthur, who was also in the ghetto was arrested and a search at the place revealed 117 wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Indian Hemp.

Inspector Tawiah said the exhibits were being examined by Forensic experts.
