Vice President returns home

Accra, Nov. 21, GNA - The Vice President, Alhaji Aliu Mahama, return home on Sunday night from Tunis, where he attended the second World Information Society meeting.

He was accompanied by the Minister of Communication, Mr Kan Dapaah and the Deputy Foreign Minister, Mr Akwasi Osei Adjei.

Mr Akwasi Adjei told journalists at the airport that the meeting, which was attended by 45 heads of state and representatives, discussed the world's commitment to finance universal access to the Internet. He said a Digital Solidarity Fund was agreed to be set up to enable less developed countries to get access to the Internet.

The Vice President later met with businessmen and organisations in that country and urged them to come and invest in Ghana. Alhaji Aliu Mahama held a meeting with the Governor of the Central Bank of Tunisia, entrepreneurs as well as the Ghanaian staff of the African Development Bank.

The Vice President was met on arrival by some Ministers of states and officials of the ministry of the Foreign Affairs. 21 Nov. 05
