The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has struck a deal with the Supoman Divisional Council for the construction of an ultra-modern highway rest stop at Supoman-Dunkwa to serve tourists and the travelling public.

Nana Pansor IV, chief of Supoman and Nifahene of the Shama traditional area, signed the agreement on behalf of the council with Mr. Akwasi Agyeman, Chief Executive Officer of the GTA, initialling it for the Authority. This forms part of the drive to boost tourism – to create jobs and raise earnings from the sector.

Mr. Agyeman underlined the determination of the Authority to build more projects across the country to enhance visitor and tourists experience to Ghana.

He mentioned a number of projects started over the last year and these included the rehabilitation and upgrading of the Kintampo Waterfalls, the Odweanoma Kwahu Paragliding Site, National Tourism Call Centre, the Accra Tourists Information Centre and the Gomoa-Assin Highway Rest Stop.

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Shama, Mr. Ato Panford, said when completed, the project would open up the area for more development. Nana Pansor applauded the GTA for the initiative.
