The 2016 National Campaign Manager for the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Peter Mac Manu, has charged members of the party to be wary of fake news that circulate on various media platforms about the current administration of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo- Addo.

He made this disclosure at the Western regional delegates conference held at the main auditorium of the George Grant University of Mines and Technology, Tarkwa on Saturday, April 21.

Mr Manu explained that fake news has the tendency to cause political unrest and dispute within the party.

“We have a government to project. Let's project the good works of H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa and the Western Regional Minister Dr Owusu Afriyie. Today if you want to project government you will have to deal with fake news. Some people have made it their business to run down this government”, he explained, adding “we have a duty to protect this government.

Whatever we hear, read or see in the media needs to be subjected to verification. If we fail to reflect and verify these fake news and allow them to be promulgated, then we are not protecting the government”, Mr Manu stated.

He further charged party delegates to work assiduously to increase their representation in parliament and to retain the NPP government beyond election 2020.
