Mampong Hospital Faces Water Shortage

Mampong (Ash) The Asante-Mampong District Hospital, which serves the Sekyere West District is faced with acute water problem and frequent power cuts. The situation has therefore, affected the blood bank, staff punctuality and quality of service, Dr S. Y. Asamoah, the District Director of Health Services, disclosed at Mampong at the weekend. Speaking to the Ghana News Agency, Dr Asamoah said the construction of six overhead tanks, capable of holding 700 gallons of water to ease the problem, has not yet been completed. He said the hospital's stand-by generator has also broken down over the past six years and therefore, appealed to the Sekyere West District Assembly to expedite action on the completion of the water tanks and help repair the generator. Dr Asamoah said the 50 million-cedi block being built by the assembly for the District Health Administration would be completed in about two months time. He expressed gratitude to the World Vision International (WVI) for funding the immunization campaign for the six childhood killer diseases in the Afram Plains last year and early this year.
