ECG promises stable power in Eastern Region

The completion of a 2X10 MVA capacity primary substation at Asamankese and Suhum all in the Eastern Region is expected to improve power supply in the region.

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has initiated further efforts in providing adequate supply capacity for present and future needs of the people.

The substation which is 90% complete will serve 31,000 to 40,000 customers in Koforidua, Kibi, Akwatia, Nsawam and its environs.

The ECG Eastern Regional, Ing Michael Baah after inspection the project told journalists the construction of the substation is to improve supply voltage and ensure power reliability in the region.

The upgraded Suhum Switching Station will now serve as switching and primary substations.

Ing Michael Baah disclosed to mynewsgh.com that ECG injects fifteen million Ghana Cedis into the system improvement projects as transformer and network upgrades every year.

The Regional Manager also stated that it earmarked about 175 system improvement projects for the 2017 to ensure quality and reliability power supply in the region.

He also revealed that the regional total assessment of illegal connections from January last year to March 2017 stood at Ghc 153,554.50 of which 122.917.52 is paid.
