NDC condemns NPP for telling lies

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Wednesday deplored what it called lies and vile propaganda the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) was dishing to the NDC and the unsuspecting public.

???? The NDC said: "we urge the NPP to return to the politics of civility and we will reciprocate."

???? Dr. Nii Josiah Aryeh, General Secretary of NDC in a statement headed" "Response to the Fluent and Pathological Lies of the NPP," said:

"The NDC has never found it necessary to attack the character and personal integrity of Mr Kufuor and leading members of the NPP."

???? He said on account of Mr Dan Botwe, NPP General Secretary's attack on Professor Evan Atta Mills, NDC Flagbearer the NDC would now abandon that policy.

???? Dr Aryeh said: "We intend to expose Mr Kufuor, warts and all, to the public."

???? He said: "Only this morning, Mr Kwabena Agyepong, the Press Secretary to Mr. Kufuor, was reported in the Statesman to have made claims about the relationship between the former President and the NDC's Flagbearer.

???? "The Press Secretary's statements were calculated to inflame feelings and grossly misrepresent statements made by the former President on Voice of America.

???? "This is what the NPP thrives on - misrepresenting and misquoting the words of leading members of our party for political advantage.? The NPP represents hypocrisy of the highest order."

???? Dr Aryeh said unfortunately while the tactic worked on an initially unsuspecting audience, "Ghanaians are now wide awake to the fact that the NPP would deceitfully and opportunistically wade into such public statements for propaganda purposes."

“RAWLINGS HAS LOST CONFIDENCE IN MILLS”– statesman

According to the paper, the Press Secretary to President Kufuor says former President Rawlings has lost faith in his chosen heir, Prof. Atta Mills, because of suggestions made by the former dictator on VOA’s Straight Talk Africa Programme last Thursday.

“If Rawlings is saying today our constitution is very silent on whether you can come back after a two-year consecutive term, to me it only goes to show that he has lost confidence in the ability of Prof. Mills to deliver the votes and still harbours illusions of coming back to power because he probably believes only he can save the day”.

Kwabena Agyepong, the paper says, however, chides, “Rawlings is more tired of the drowsiness of the Mills leadership than anything else. According to the paper, Kwabena Agyepong sees this as a true reflection of the hypocrisy and lack of ideas that have characterized the Law Professor’s leadership of the NDC.
