Ex-bodyguards Of Rawlings Arrested & Interrogated

NPP CONTINUES TO HARRASS JJ RAWLINGS

The government of the NPP which has sworn to assassinate the former president before the elections in December 2004, has struck again.

This time around, they arrested former members of the Force Reserve Battalion known as Commandos, who served as security detail for the former president in a dawn swoop at Nungua.

All arrested have since been released after being questioned about their relationship with President Rawlings and how often they see him or been to his house.

The wife of the head of the President's security was taken in and questioned the whole day. The BNI had attempted to take in one ex-soldier's mother as hostage to enable them trace the ex-soldier's whereabouts, but one of the ex-soldier's sisters offered herself in place of the mother.

This continued harrassment of the former president does not bode well for our young democracy. It is an already known fact that National Reconciliation Commission was set up just to nail the former president for his stewardship of the country from 1981- 2000, when he handed over power to the NPP govt.

While this piece of troubling news has been closely guarded from reaching the news houses, it is increasingly becoming a dangerous style of naked intimidation of the former president and anyone associated with him.

It is very important that the world knows what abuses are going on in Ghana under the democratic positive change administration of JA Kufuor.
