Mahama not against Bagbin – Asiedu Nketia

General Secretary of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has refuted allegations that President John Mahama is scheming to oust Majority Leader Alban Bagbin from parliament.

Mr Asiedu Nketia told party supporters in the Upper West Region on Wednesday that Mr Mahama is fully in support of Mr Bagbin’s quest to return to Parliament for a seventh term.

Mr Nketia, also known as General Mosquito rather accused the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) of scheming with “pliable” members of the NDC to conspire against Mr Bagbin.

“President Mahama is not sponsoring any candidate in Nadowli Kaleo, I am telling you for fact”, Mr Asiedu Nketia told chiefs and people of the Upper West Region, adding: “The NPP fears the name Bagbin in parliament so they are using some moles in the NDC to cause that destruction. We are clear in our minds that those rumouring around that President Mahama wants Bagbin out of parliament are not NDC people”.

He added that no genuine NDC person is interested in supporting any other candidate in the constituency except the incumbent who is also the Majority Leader. “Our one and only candidate is Alban Bagbin,” he underscored.
