The Northern regional chairman of the NPP Daniel Bugri Naabu is demanding the arrest of Azorka Boys for disrupting Monday’s demonstration by opposition parties in Tamale.

The vigilante group, believed to be aligned with the ruling NDC, reportedly clashed with demonstrators at the Vodafone traffic light in Tamale.

The protesters were marching against what they say is the harsh economic conditions and high utility tariffs under the Mahama government.

The Police had asked the demonstrators to postpone the protest but they defied the order.

Speaking to Starr News, Bugri Naabu said the police appeared unconcerned when the group pounced on the demonstrators.

“The Police were there when they came to attack us and until now no arrest has been made, is it because NDC is in power and no one can arrest them? They should be arrested”.

Meanwhile, the Police in Tamale have asked residents who felt their rights were violated during the protest in the Metropolis to file complaints.
