Six companies donate towards Farmers' Day

Accra, Nov. 4, GNA - Seven firms on Tuesday donated items worth millions of cedis towards this year's Farmer's Day celebration, which falls on December 5.

The firms are the Ghana Agro Food Company (GAFCO), Continental Commodity Trade Company (CCTC), Social Security Bank (SSB), Wienco Ghana Limited, Multivet, Milani and Don Hai.

GAFCO donated their products of animal feed and canned food and 10 million cedis while CCTC gave out farming products worth 80 million cedis, to enhance research on agriculture and SSB Bank donated 100 Jacto sprayers.

Wienco, importers of fertilizers, donated 100 bags of cocoa fertilizer, 10 knapsack sprayers and 12 million cedis and are funding the brochures of this year's farmers' day celebration. Milani, exporters and producers of fresh pineapples, gave four million cedis, Mulitivet and Don Hai gave two million cedis each and promised to give more next year.

Major Courage Quashiga (rtd), Minister of Food and Agriculture, who received the items, called for further support and donations to make the day a big success.
