Workers of the Ghana Civil Aviation have called off their intended strike which was slated for 8th July 2016 following government’s intervention.

Speaking on Atinka July 8, 2016, edition of the AM Drive with Kaakyere Ofori Ayim, the Public Relations Officer for the Ghana Civil Aviation, Mr. Eric Amanin stated that the strike was suspended following government’s intervention.

He added that the management of the airport met with the Ghana Civil Aviation and the Minister of Tourism to deliberate on the way forward and the calling off of the strike was the outcome.

He mentioned that the government has promised the Civil Aviation more lands to install its equipment to enable the institution work efficiently.

He added that deliberations are also ongoing with the National Security and the Ghana Airports Authority to protect the Civil Aviation lands to prevent future encroachments.

According to Mr. Eric Amanin, people who have built on the aviation lands have no permission hence the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority will start embarking on massive demonstration exercises on civil aviation lands which have been encroached upon and so persons on such lands should take caution.
