Former First Lady and wife of ex-President Rawlings says the military leader during his regime declined her sourcing monies from state coffers to undertake development for women through her 31st December women’s Movement.

Ex-President Rawlings is known for his ethical and principled values which have gained a great deal of respect and admiration from political actors across-board.

Commenting on his lifestyle, the wife of the ex-Ghanaian leader, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings told Bola Ray on Starr Chat Wednesday that she was stunned years back when J.J Rawlings said NO to her while sourcing some funds from the Ministry of Finance to undertake a bakery venture for women.

She noted J.J Rawlings never bend rules and his principles to make her happy as the wife.

“At some point in time I was even trying to get him to help us because we needed money to do certain things and he said Nana I’ve heard you are doing something with women, Yes; the country is going through difficulties and there is no way that I’ll give you any money for that. And he said also if you’re really worth your salt, go to the Bank. So from then on I knew i could not go to him and ask him for money for my project,” Nana Konadu said.
