I can’t guarantee problem free SADA - CEO

Chief Executive Officer of the Savannah Accelerated Authority SADA, Mr. Charles Abugri Chief Executive Officer of the Savannah Accelerated Authority SADA, Mr. Charles Abugri

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Savannah Accelerated Authority (SADA) Mr. Charles Abugri has disclosed that he cannot guarantee if the widespread misappropriation of funds that rocked the authority between 2012 and 2013 will cease.

“I cannot promise if the things that happened won’t occur again. What I can only do is work to improve the system so that they will be minimized”, he revealed.

According to Mr. Abugri on the Ultimate Breakfast Show, SADA is a human institution and therefore is prone to errors just like any other public institution in the country but he is optimistic that the structures put in place will drastically reduce these incidents.

SADA was set up in 2010 as an independent agency for coordinating a development agenda for the northern savannah ecological zone of Ghana – Upper East, Upper West and the Northern Region, and north of Brong-Ahafo and north of the Volta region.

The Agency has however come under severe scrutiny and criticism over the reported misappropriation of funds by management officials. Some have called for the total dissolution of SADA since according to them; it is not serving the sole purpose for which it was set up.

But the current CEO indicate that SADA has made giant strides in other areas including the Millennium Village Projects and the Solar Energy Generation promising that it will live up to its mandate.
