Labour Expert, Kwesi Danso Acheampong, is accusing the Ghana Police Service of taking advantage of the massive unemployment situation in the country to extort money from the youth through the sale of its recruitment forms.

He made the accusation Friday in an exclusive interview with Atinka FM following reports that the Police sold about 17, 000 recruitment forms to prospective applicants within 48 hours . He noted that the Police would have sold 300,000 forms by the time the exercise is over although they are aware of the number they intend to recruit.

According to him, the move is tantamount to exploitation and challenged the Police Administration to come out clean on the numbers of persons they want to recruit by the end of the exercise.

Mr. Kwesi Danso Acheampong said it is improper for an institution as noble as the Ghana Police Service to cash into the mass unemployment in the country by selling forms to the already suffering youth in the country. He also entreated the Police to determine the number they want and sell the forms accordingly .
As of Thursday, GCB Bank Limited (GCB) had sold over 17,000 police recruitment forms to prospective recruits across the country on the second day of the three -week exercise.

The Bank is currently selling the recruitment forms at all branches after resolving challenges that slowed down the sale of the forms on the first day, Wednesday, 11th May, 2016. One recruitment form is being sold at GHC100. GCB experienced large numbers of prospective recruits at its branches on the first day which affected the smooth flow of the sale.

The Labour Consultant said all those rushing for the forms are doing so because they do not know the number of individuals needed in the service so they are gambling fortunes with the hope of securing a place.

He added that if the Police makes known the number of recruits they want to take, it will help reduce the number of youth rushing to the revenues to purchase the forms.
