Mahama is the president who came into office with a lot of cash at his disposal but being stupid, he had misued. He keep increasing the price of fuel just to offset the budget shortfall. As we speak the price of fuel is below $40 a barrel so, what is the reason for increasing the price in Ghana and think that we are an oil producing nation thanks to Kufuor and his government.

Saudi Arabia is raising domestic gasoline prices by more than 50 percent from Tuesday in response to its budget deficit of almost $98 billion.
Prices will also increase on water, electricity, diesel and kerosene, as a number of subsidies are to be cut over five years, the official SPA news agency reported.

High-grade gasoline will increase by 50 percent to 0.90 riyals ($0.24) a liter, and lower-grade gasoline will see a 67 percent increase.

King Salman: announcement of budget comes in light of decrease in oil prices and many challenges.

Aramco, the country’s state-owned oil company, announced on Twitter that it would close gasoline stations until midnight on Monday.

The gasoline prices in the kingdom have been the cheapest in the Gulf and one of the cheapest in the world, according to AFP.

Other Gulf states have raised fuel prices, with United Arab Emirates and Kuwait lifting subsidies earlier this year. The IMF has said that if Saudi Arabia raised its fuel prices to Gulf levels, it will save around $17 billion annually.

The global falling oil prices and increased Saudi spending have contributed to the Kingdom’s deficit

On Monday, the Saudi Finance Ministry released the 2016 budget and reported that its budget deficit swelled considerably in 2015, to 367 billion riyals ($97.9 billion) or 15 percent of gross domestic product. Saudi Arabia expects to have a deficit of almost $87 billion for 2016.

The ministry announced plans to cut the deficit with spending cuts and reforms, not expecting a major recovery of oil prices anytime soon.

Now we have outgrown the capacity of the Akosombo dam and have to buy fuel, gas and even current from neighbouring countries. Does Nana Addo want the electricity to be offered at ridiculous prices? How do we recover the money to be able to buy more? This is common economics. No need to compare to rent. Better Nana Addo advises landlords to reduce their rents instead of playing politics with the global energy crises. If only NPP had invested in electricity as NDC 2 has done, Nana Addo would not be lamenting like this.

I am unwavering in my support and vote for the NPP because of its liberal democratics views and commitment to rule os law. It is more trustworthy than the NDC when it comes to constitutional rule but late the actions of its leading lights and the loud silence of its flagbearer has shaken my loyalty to the party. Nana Addo obvious refusal to disavow his allies who abuse or deny the rights of other party members or citizens for his apparent benefit is frightenly appalling. His silence and tacit support when provisions of his parties consitition are set aside or deliberately misintepreted to silence, dismiss and suspend his perceived enemies is turning him into a cheap demogogue and dictator. No how does he convince us that he will handle the high political office of the Executive Presidency of Ghana without all these negative traits he has siccessful used to maintain control over the NPP. It is quite obvious tha granted more power and the intruments of a normal repressive national security, the man will become more reckless and intolerant of dissent. Many are the self righteous dictators born out of liberation movements, so no one should tell me the man has a long track record of human rights activism when he was young. The real test of a man's commitment to liberal democracy is when he is at the helm of affairs, and the evidence is not reassuring as the Executive Presidential Candidate of the NPP. Some may call it Machiavellian savvy but I call it the Making of a Frankenstein Monster.

On economic growth, if kufour's economy which excluded oil was worth $100; annual growth of 9% equals $9; if that economy is significantly expanded by oil production to say $300, growth rate of 4% equals $12 so in real terms Mahama's economy is not as bad as nana Would have us to believe!! This is precisely why he had a third class degree (unclassified in some parts of the world). Shame on you and Bawumia

You pay more per kilowatt than the US. I guess we like to be screwed on all fronts. This is not a usage issue. It's more about the cost per kilowatt being excessive. BTW, you pay that high because of how inefficient ECG is.

If that money was used in constructing solar power plants, electricity would be cheaper. So why do you want to be given the chance to waste once again our resources of useless projects?

Enough is enough how does a government increase water bill on the radio from 90 pewas to 5.25ghc within 6 months it's madness. Mahama pls wake up get your guys to work. The poor people are crying .
