Kick out Ghana’s ‘Alibaba and the forty thieves’ - Amoako Baah

A political science lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Dr. Richard Amoako Baah has called on Ghanaians to vote out the current government which he referred to as the famous "Alibaba and the forty thieves".

According to the political science lecturer, any government or administration which does not think about its citizens is not worth staying in power, hence Ghanaians should take back their country from the hands of this "incompetent administration" which is only interested in creating, looting and sharing state resources with friends, allies and cronies.

Dr. Amoako Baah said, the widespread corruption coupled with incompetence, mismanagement and lack of vision, has brought the country on its knees leading to increasing unemployment, economic hardship, collapse of local businesses, killer taxes among other difficult challenges facing Ghanaians.

Government appointees he posited are insincere, and do not have the nation at heart but rather engaging in acts that can best be described as an abuse of office and financial misappropriation.

He noted, what makes the case worse is the refusal of the leader [President Mahama] to sanction his ‘corrupt appointees’ to save this country instead, he has left his guard allowing them to continue milking the state of its resources.

Dr. Baah said it was time the electorate use the ballot box to kick out incompetence and vote in an effective leader and someone with sound policies to save this country from ‘dying’.

He further described the current administration as a ‘try and error’ government without focus and sound policies to transform the economy.

Ghana he said, cannot continue with the try and error kind of governance, rather we need a government with plans to manage the affairs of state.

He also bemoaned the high cost of projects under our current economic challenges, as unfortunate, disheartening and a means of robbing Ghanaians.

Dr. Amoako Baah was of the view that, if government should do due diligence in awarding contracts, it will help create jobs for young people and reduce the cost of projects.

The political scientist was of the view that, although the 40-year development under normal circumstance is good, yet government lacks the insight into what the nation is about in the coming year.

"How can you make a 40-year development plan when you don’t know what will happen in a year?" he quizzed.

He chided President Mahama for claiming to have solve the energy crisis when the problem remains unsolved.

Dr. Richard Amoako speaking in an interview with Kwame Tutu on frontline on Rainbow Radio said Ghanaians should access their current condition of living and decide who deserves their vote in the upcoming general elections.
