Ghana Embassy Appeals For Support And Funds

Black Queens At World Cup Soccer-2003

In preparation for the upcoming Women’s World Cup Soccer tournament scheduled to take off on September 20, this year, in the US, the Embassy of Ghana and the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports seek support for the team.

As they prepare vigorously for the difficult task ahead to raise the image of the country, they need the generous support both spiritually and financially to strengthen their chances in the tournament and therefore the Embassy in collaboration with the Ministry is appealing to all to contribute generously in cash or in kind towards the upkeep of the team.

The team, in high spirits and battle, ready to make the country proud, qualified, along with Nigeria to represent Africa in this year’s Women’s World Cup Soccer tournament and for the past six weeks, have been in training in Portland, Oregon to make an impressive impact in this year’s event.

The Black Queens are in a group with China, Australia, and Russia, an indication that a very large audience, which hopefully will generate good publicity for the country, will view this year’s matches.

The Black Queens are due to play their first match against China on Sunday, in Carson, Los Angeles.

The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports in Ghana and the Embassy expresses their sincere appreciation to all who respond to this national call to duty by donating to the team through the Embassy of Ghana in Washington DC. Further Information can be acquired on the Embassy’s website at www.ghana-embassy.org.
