AshantiGold CEO, Kudjoe Fianoo, is refusing to quash rumours that head coach Bashir Hayford has snatched the girlfriend of one of his players.

But Fianoo says he does not want to believe the story is true and says news are being fabricated because of the club’s unimpressive outing in the Ghana Premier League.

Hayford is alleged to have snatched the lover of midfielder Joseph Ato Bissah creating a sour relationship with the player and his teammates.

"There is an iota of truth in every rumour, but I don't believe it," Fianoo said in an interview on Kessben FM.

"In football, all these problems come up when there are challenges. It could even be that the issue has been there even before last season. But it was not heard of because we were playing well," he added.

"So I don't believe such stories even though they could be true."

Defending champions AshantiGold have laboured this season and got thumped 5-1 last week at Dansoman.

They will try to get their campaign back on track against Dreams FC at home on Sunday.
