GHALCA Chief Alhaji Raji GHALCA Chief Alhaji Raji

The Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA), the mother body of all league clubs in Ghana held its annual congress at the media centre of the Accra Sports Stadium.

Delegates of the various league clubs who are members of the association trooped in to attend the congress that was scheduled for 9am but delayed due late arrival and other assignments some members were assigned to.
Incumbent chairman of the association, Alhaji Raji who plans to contest the chairmanship position opened proceedings at the congress with the meetings on the last congress that was held on May 8, 2014.

The chairman seat of GHALCA is been contested by the Chief Executive Officer of Ashanti Gold, Cudjoe Fianoo, ex-Berekum Chelsea boss Nana Oduro Sarfo and his vice chairman, Isaac Koomson for his office in the coming elections.

Cudjoe Fianoo, who lost out on the Ghana football association’s Executive Committee membership last year has thrown his hat into the race.

Speaking at the congress, Alhaji Raji admitted the clubs have a huge task on their hands to work on getting the fans over to the stadium, suggesting clubs should be more community based – interact with the community to help promote both the teams and the premier league as research has proven.

GHALCA fixed April 21 for their elections and 28th April to swear the elected executives into office.
