A group calling itself Forum for Excellent Ghana has blamed the Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP), John Kudalor for his inability to solve the rampant murders in the country.

INCREASED UNRAVELED ASSASINATIONS: HOLD IGP RESPONSIBLE.

The Forum for Excellent Ghana says, notwithstanding general logistical issues, the Ghana Police Service’s performance should especially be measured by her ability to unravel unlawful killings and not only by the reduction in street crime, armed robbery and car-hijacking.

In a statement questioning the security strategies of the IGP, and signed by the convener, Carl Nii Addo, the Group has condemned the growing spate of gruesome murders in the country, describing it as unGHanaian.

Excellent Ghana says, government- particularly the Police, should not abandon its responsibility to successfully investigate, unnatural deaths that come to attention, as implied by Article 13.

Aside all persons having a right to life, the Group says where unnatural death occurs, the state MUST, suo motu (on its own volition) without even being petitioned, investigate and prosecute satisfactorily, any such murder.

The civil society group, is also calling on all well-meaning individuals and all Security Agencies to consider any gruesome murder a threat to the Ghanaian hospitality brand and the country’s enviable position as a beacon of peace. Their call, comes after the killing of the Honourable Member of Parliament for Abuakwah North, Hon. John Boakye Danquah Adu at his residence on the Spintex Road in Accra.

Time is of essence considering the growing list of unravelled murders in the country. As security is an all-citizens affair, Excellent Ghana enjoins all to relive the communal security traditions of our motherland.

It commends the visible and community policing efforts of the Ghana Police Service over the years and calls for a more tactical and inclusive approach ahead of the general elections.

The Group has reminded the Inspector General of Police that, the country waits with bated breath for the unravelling of the mystery surrounding the shooting of the Nkwanta South DCE in the Volta Region, that of the Chief of Atwima Koforidua in the Ashanti Region which all happened in 2015.

Indeed we can hardly forget other murders in 2014 including the paramount Chief of the Nanumba Traditional Area, Naa Dasana Adani, the Joma Mantse, Nii Ayittey Noyatse and Fennec Okyere, the Manager of Hiplife artiste’s Kwaw Kesse.
