Premier League Board former Chairman, Welbeck Abra-Appiah says he harbour no hard feelings against his critics during his stay as the head of the PLB.

Abra-Appiah, who took office in 2005, was censured for the decline of local football.

Prior to him taking over, local clubs were a constant threat to other elite teams in CAF’s inter-club football competitions –Champions League and Confederation Cup.

Players from the local scene regularly featured for the senior national team, the Black Stars, and spectators thronged to match venues. But all that declined in his 10-year-stay at the helm of affairs.

He constantly censured for the poor state of local football in Ghana with some sections of the media claiming he used the position for his own aggrandizement.

But Abra-Appiah says those who constantly criticised his work only kept him on his toes to work harder.

“I want to thank everybody in the media. I had very good friends among the media,” the former financier of Okwahu United told TV3 Ghana.

Mr. Abra-Appiah had special message for Accra-based radio station Asempa FM ‘Fire-for-fire’ programme host, Patrick Osei Agyemang popularly known in the media circle as Countryman Songo, and Enoch Akwasi Worlanyo Wallace for keeping him on his toes.

“I want to ask for a special message for my good friends Songo and Wallace. I don’t begrudge them in any way. They put me on my toes.

He added: “They helped me to look at things the way they should be and I’m grateful for that.”

Abra-Appiah announced his decision to drop his working tools after 10 years as the head of Ghana football.
