Philanthropist donates to schools.

Accra, Aug. 8, GNA - Mr. Sam Winful, a Philanthropist on Friday donated various items worth 70 million cedis to the Social Advance Institute in Accra.

The items were 11 computers and a printer, stationary items and sporting kits. He had earlier donated some items to the Community Day Care Centre and St. Nicholas School, also in Accra.

Mr Winful said the poor nature of most libraries in Ghanaian schools motivated him to make the donation for the benefit of the younger generation.

Mr Winful, who is a Ghanaian resident in the US, and the Director of Operations at the Renbrook School in the US, said his desire to help the needy made him to start collecting old school books and bought second hand educational materials including the computers for schools in Ghana. He has also provided a year's scholarship of 5 million cedis each to four brilliant but needy students, two from the Social Advance Institute and the other two from St. Nicholas School.

Mr Winful said he hopes to establish an educational fund to help such students in Ghana to achieve their aims in life. He commended the Salisbury school and the Richard family in the US for their immense contribution towards the donation.

Miss Rosa M. Sam, Principal of the Social Advance Institute received the items and urged other donors to emulate Mr Winful.
