Former Kumasi Asante Kotoko skipper Issah Ahmed has told management of the club that he won’t beg before donning their colours again.

Issah Ahmed led Kumasi Asante Kotoko to dethroned Accra Hearts of Oak for the Ghana Premier league crown in the 2005/2006 season.

He led the club into Africa for the CAF inter-club football competition, the Champions League. His outstanding performance at the back earned him a place in Ghana’s 2006 Africa Cup of nations squad in Egypt.

Ahmed was signed by Randers for the 2006/07 season just after the World Cup 2006, but he was not given much playing time during his start in Randers.

There were media reports that the former Great Olympics centre-back will return to the local scene and he confirmed those rumors, saying.

“I will surely come back very soon. I have been training and trying to shape myself for the season. I will announce my return at the right time.”

But he is now frustrated at waiting for the opportunity which is never coming.

“I Don’t have to beg before I play for Kotoko,” the man who was popularly known as ‘Issah the rock’ told Kesben FM.

He alleged that Ghana football is politics and he is not ready for that.

“Now Ghana football has become politics and I am not ready to induce people before I return to a club I served,” He added.

Issah Ahmed played alongside Aziz Tetteh, Michael Asante (late), Charles Taylor and other great players like Nana Arhin Duah.
