Ghana's utility defender Jeffrey Schlupp could end the season as champions with Leicester City if they are able maintain their surprising form throughout the season.

The 22-year-old watched from the screens on his hospital bed as his Leicester City recorded another surprising victory by beating Everton 3-2 at the Goodison Park.

Foxes boss Ranieri said in his pre-match press conference before Saturday's Premier League match at Everton that Schlupp is suffering with a hamstring injury.

He has been ruled out for close to six weeks and is expected to return in late January.

Algerian lethal man Riyad Mahrez scored the first of two penalties after Ramiro Funes Mori held back Shinji Okazaki.

Spain's Romelu Lukaku levelled, but Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard tripped Jamie Vardy to allow Mahrez to again convert from the spot.

Okazaki then fired in a third for the Foxes, who held on despite Kevin Mirallas' late strike.

With Arsenal and Manchester City clashing on Monday at the Emirates Stadium, has ensured Leicester spend the Christmas at the top of the table.
