Ghana’s tourism sector is currently participating in the ongoing World Travel Market (WTM) Fair which is slated for Monday 2 -5 November 2015 in London, United Kingdom.

The WTM Fair, which is the world’s leading Travel Trade Show, is an annual event which takes places in the British capital of London. It is seen to be the prime meeting place and also an excellent opportunity to meet business partners and to do business.

As a global travel event, the world travel market aims to increase tourism trade deals, international networking with travel professionals, buyers and providing travel business intelligence.

In participating in the world travel market, the Ministry of Tourism, Culture & Creative Arts, through the Ghana Tourism Authority and its trade associations sees the Fair as a rare opportunity to promote Ghana to the UK and European markets, by focusing on buyers from the incentive, luxury travel and leisure sectors, among them are associations, conferences organisers, incentive planners and large-group travel organisers.

According to Ghana’s Minister of Tourism, Culture & Creative Arts, Mrs. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, Ghana’s participation in this year’s trade exhibition will help encourage global tour operators and travel agents to highlight Ghana on their tour circuits.

In line with the Ministry’s mandate to develop and sustain tourism for national development, the Minister’s delegation included a cross section of the tourism trade associations and the creative arts practitioners with the view to showcase Ghana’s excellent diverse tourism/cultural heritage.

She opined that this fair will afford Ghana the opportunity to inform and sensitise investors about investment incentives and opportunities available in the tourism, culture and creative arts sector.

“For Ghana, the World Travel Market continues to be one of the best platforms to deepen relationships with UK and also to develop some strategic European international travel trade,” said Mrs Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare

“The UK market is a very strong one for Ghana and both countries have a very close historical relationship which must be sustained for mutual benefits.

The honourable Minister earlier on Tuesday, spoke briefly about Ghana’s unique tourism product when she was given the opportunity by the moderator of the ministerial summit CNN’s Anchorman Richard Quest to give the short tagline for Ghana.

Ghana’s participation at the World Travel Market will be climaxed with Ghana Day Celebration to showcase the rich tapestry of Ghanaian culture and creativity in music and dance, a taster session of variety of Ghanaian cuisine, as well as, an assorted made in Ghana products. As it was last year, it is expected that a number of participants at this year’s WTM fair will patronise the Ghana stand to enjoy the proverbial Ghanaian hospitality.

Ghana’s delegation also includes Officials from Ministry of Tourism, Culture & Creative Arts, the Ghana Tourism Authority, Forestry Commission, Ghana Airport company, private sector operators (Sunseekers, Land Tours, Apstar Tours, African Regent Hotel, Land tours, African Origin Travel and tours.
