Call for Sports Minister’s head is ‘silly' - Federica Mensah

The spokesperson of the National Sports Authority, Federica Mensah has described the call for the resignation of the Sports Minister Dr Mustapha Ahmed as "silly".

Dr. Ahmed has come under a barrage of criticisms for refusing to pay the Black Queens their expected bonus of $5,000 each for winning gold at this year’s All Africa Games until President Mahama ordered the payment.

But Mensah believes the Finance Ministry should be blamed for this brouhaha because it was responsible for the bonus row.

“Look at them now calling for the head of the minister, if the money is not coming do you expect the man in charge to perform and I think this is silly and I think you broadcast journalists must be up and doing by going to the doorstep of the Finance Ministry," he told Starr Sports.

Team Ghana recorded 19 medals; two gold, nine silver and eight bronze placing 12th on the medal table in the just ended multi-sports event in Congo.
