Having just sealed the transfer to English Premier League champions, Chelsea, Allsports.com.gh complies five of the most basic facts you may not know about the 21 year old star born in Tamale on July 2, 1994.

1. Dreams FC
Rahman began his career at Dreams FC during their days in the third tier of Ghana football, Division Two League. His impressive displays soon caught the attention of Kumasi Asante Kotoko who signed the youngster on loan for the 2011/12 Ghana top flight campaign.

2. He was beaten to the Ghana league's discovery of the year award by Joshua Oniku

Following his stellar season with the great Kumasi Asante Kotoko during which he helped the Porcupine Warriors triumph in the Ghana Premier League, Baba Rahman was widely tipped to win the Most promising player gong at the end of season awards.

It was not to be however as he was pipped to the big prize by Joshua Oniku of Tema Youth. Baba Rahman did not hide his disappointment at missing out but was however unfazed, vowing to work harder to go on and achieve even more in his career with a move to Germany already agreed then.

"To be frank with you, I am disappointed because I know I had a wonderful season and also contributed greatly towards Kotoko's league triumph," he told the club's official newspaper, Kotoko Express back then.

"I do not want to fault anyone for the situation I find myself in, but I believe a little diligence and study on the part of the awards committee would have brought about a different result. However, they have the final say and so if they say I could not convince them with my performance, I will only move on and hope for the better in the future," Baba Rahman added.

The rest is history.

3. He first arrived in Europe aged 17 years

After becoming a sought after player during his time with the Kumasi-based club, serious inquiries were made about the player by Manchester City and Arsenal of the English Premier League and Parma F.C. of the Italian Serie A.

However, Rahman eventually signed with the newly promoted, SpVgg Greuther Fürth in the German Bundesliga on 12 June 2012 when he was still chasing his 18th birthday.

Rahman stated that his decision to join Fürth where he will play two years, was because the club offered, "the best conditions in which to develop my career."

In the Derby between Greuther Fürth and 1. FC Nuremberg on 11 August 2014 he scored his first 2 goals for Fürth.The next day he signed with FC Augsburg

4. He made more tackles than any other player in Bundesliga last season

After signing for 2.5million Euros for Augsburg after two seasons at Greuther Fürth, Baba Rahman marched straight into the Augsburg first eleven putting up one impressive display after another and was hailed among the best crossers in the German top flight.

Renowned football statistics outlet WhoScored.com confirmed Ghana defender Abdul Baba Rahman made more tackles than any player in the German Bundesliga last season. The 21-year-old impressively made 109 tackles while in action for Augsburg in the Bundesliga last season as he completed 29 games out of 34.

Rahman was shortlisted for the best left back of the season prize in the end of year Bundesliga awards.

5. Rice is his favourite food, playing video games and music are his hobbies

The new Chelsea recruit likes to eat anything rice, whether it's with stew, palava sauce or soup even though he likes it best with beef sauce.

When he's not on the soccer field, Baba Rahman spends most of his time playing video games or listening to music.
