Ghana coach Avram Grant has heaped praises on his players after the Black Stars defeated Mauritius 7-1 at the Accra Sports Stadium in an Afcon 2017 qualifier.

Christian Atsu opened the scoring early on, before skipper Asamoah Gyan and Jordan Ayew scored a brace each before the first half came to an end. Jeffrey Schlupp and David Accam completed the riot and Avram Grant could not hide his excitement after the final whistle.

"It was a very good game, my players did very well and I think we deserve to win," Grant told the press after the game.

"Mauritius gave us a good game, they played to their abilities but we were better in every aspect of the game and I’m happy with the win. This is just the beginning of a long journey. We have a long way to go and we have to keep going for points," he added

Jeffrey Schlupp started at the left side of midfield, and Avram Grant explained his decision to play the Leicester City young player and Players Player of the year up field.

"Jeffrey is good anywhere on the pitch. He played there (for Leicester City) sometimes in England. His movement on and off the ball is good. Andre Ayew also plays there and Wakaso, but Wakaso has been moved into the midfield. He did a good job today." he stated.
