Bawumia heckled; calls off Ho Poly lecture

Some students of the Ho polytechnic believed to be members of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) have disrupted a planned lecture by Dr Mahamudu Bawumia on their campus.

The running mate of the 2016 flagbearer of the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo was scheduled to give a lecture on the impact of the IMF bailout on the Ghanaian economy at the school as part of his tour of the region.

However, Starr News Lambert Atsivor reports that some students started a protest against the lecture even before it could take off.

The action comes days after some government officials including, deputy education minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa were heckled from addressing some teacher trainees at the Kumasi Wesley College.

The colleges that were present were Mampong Technical College of Education, St Monicas College of Education, Offinso College of Education, St Louis College of Education and Agogo Women College of Education.

Student supporters of the NPP at the Ho Polytechnic believe the conduct of their colleagues is in retaliation of what happened to the government officials in the Ashanti region.
