Seychelles 2015: Ghana overpower African champions Senegal

The Black Sharks of Ghana have defeated reigning African Champions Senegal 5-3 to rekindle their slim hopes of qualification.

Ghana produced the performance of the tournament so far at the Afcon Nations Cup in Seychelles with blistering attacks and resolute defending. This is the first time Senegal have been beaten in "open play" since 2013 and it proved a titanic contest right to the final whistle.

Outstanding striker Alexander Adjei grabbed the tournament's first hatrick to increase his overall tally to six goals.

Meanwhile a petition by Ghana against unfair officiating in their first two games is being reviewed by the Confederation of African Football (Caf).

The Black Sharks management is convinced that the team was robbed in their opening two games as five penalties were awarded in favour of Madagascar and another two in favour of Morocco in their second game.

The official protest by Ghana seemed to have done the trick as the Sharks went on the rampage against Senegal who represented Africa at the last Beach Soccer World Cup Finals in Haiti. The national beach soccer team of Ghana was formed in 2013 as compared to Senegal who first put a team together in 2007.

Madagascar top the group with 8 pts, Senegal 3pts, Ghana 3pts and Morocco 3pts.

The Black Sharks will miss out on the semis due to an inferior goal difference.
