Don't be in despair because of energy crisis – Rev Minister

The Reverend Dr. Nii Noi Odonkor, Ga Presbytery Chairman, on Holy Saturday advised Ghanaians not to be despair, because of the current energy crisis that the country was facing.

He said it was important that as a country, we rose up to the energy crisis or dumsor challenge, and in unity see how best we could solve the problem.

"We should not also assume that dumsor is normal, and therefore be complacent, without doing anything about it," he said urging those directly responsible for solving the issues to be up and doing.

Rev. Dr. Odonkor gave the advice at a Prayer Rally at the Mount Moriah Prayer Centre at Danfa near Accra, to crown activities of Lent.

The Lent Season is a 40-day period prior to Easter where Christians usually observe a fast.

The prayer rally brought together hundreds of people from various churches within the Ga Presbytery to pray and thank God

Rev Dr. Odonkor using Mary Magdalene as an example, said according to John 20 the woman went to the tomb of Jesus while it was still dark, and said as Christians we cannot wait for all our problems to be solved before we seek God.

He pointed out that it is even in our dark situations that we need to seek God, saying Mary Magdalene knew that Jesus was dead, she did not wait for daybreak, but took a bold step of faith even when it was still dark.

"As Christians, sickness, poverty, death, hunger, pain and anything that does not promote happiness in our lives can be a dark situation but we need to rise up and face our challenges, seek God, learn the word of God," he said, adding that God is God whether in darkness or in light.

Rev. Dr Odonkor further asked Ghanaian to be united, saying in unity we can achieve anything as a country

Rev. Daniel Kwesi Ayim, Pastor in charge of Mount Moriah Congregation of the Presby Church, Danfa, led the congregation in a prayer session.

Rev. Ayim who is also the Director of the Prayer Centre, said the centre was for the Ga Presbytery, and urged members of the Presbyterian church and other congregations to feel free to come to the centre to pray at any time.
