GIPC Entrepreneurial Seminar slated for K’si

As part of the “Think Ghana Make it Happen” Campaign, the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), in collaboration with the Youth Enterprise Support (YES), will organise a one-day National Entrepreneurship seminar in Kumasi on Wednesday, March 11.

The seminar, with “Building A More Entrepreneurial Economy” as its theme, will host Larry C Farrell, the world’s renowned entrepreneurial expert from the United States.

Speaking at the media launch on Tuesday, Mrs Mawuena Trebah, Chief Executive Officer of GIPC, said the seminar is intended to create and pursue a national discussion on making our economy enterprising, innovative and sustainable.

“It is also to introduce entrepreneurship as an economic shift, as opposed to just the experience of individuals owning their businesses,” she said.

She said the seminar will draw an audience of entrepreneurial-driven organizations and individuals, both in industry and academia, policy makers and the business community, to participate and draw lessons, in order to improve the output of entrepreneurial efforts in Ghana.

She said the seminar is expected to have over 200 participants, and will be broadcast live on radio, and will also stream live on the internet with an extended global target.

She noted that, during the seminar, which will take place at the Golden Tulip Hotel, Mr Farrell will demonstrate to the participants how training on creating entrepreneurial economy works, as an additional economic development tool for Ghana.

“We will also host local entrepreneurial experts, to offer their expertise and advice on becoming a successful entrepreneur in Ghana,” she added.

She said there will also be questions and answers section, with invited guests, innovation hubs, exhibitions by young entrepreneurs, and other successful businesses, networking lunch, to encourage passion discussions on ideas and perspective on promoting businesses in Ghana.

“More importantly, we hope to establish a platform for YES Secretariat to create a National interest in its mission, to discover and shape the best business ideas in Ghana to be invested in,” she said.

Mrs Helga Boadi, Chief Executive Officer, YES, expressed the hope that the seminar will equip participants with the needed knowledge, to propel them to aim higher, and expressed her appreciation to the sponsors.

She expressed the readiness of YES to help all people with good business plans.

She explained that YES was initiated to help Ghana’s young and innovative population turn great ideas into thriving business enterprises.
