Jawula backs Nyantakyi to retain FA presidency

Former FA president Alhaji Jawula is the first high ranking football administrator to throw his weight behind incumbent FA president Kwesi Nyantakyi to retain his post as president of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

The Wa All Stars owner, a lawyer by profession, has piloted affairs at the tiller of Ghana football association for the past 10 years.

Nyantakyi is expected to defend his position later this year when elections come around with many tipping him to retain his position.

However, the CAF Executive Committee Member has come under lots of condemnation from a section of the Ghanaian media who have accused him of doing little to enhance the game during his tenure especially the domestic league.

Despite the genuine concerns when it comes to the local league Jawula says Nyantakyi’s achievements makes him the best option for the job.

“In my opinion Nyantakyi is the best man for the job. I have heard a lot of names being mentioned it’s an elections but for me I still think he should retain the position,” Jawula told Accra based Citi FM.

“After the World Cup in Brazil the media hit him hard but after Black Stars performance in Equatorial Guinea I think he has vindicated himself.”

“In my opinion there is much room for improvement but he is still the right man for the job.”

Jawula was Ghana’s FA president between 1997 to 2001.
