NLA unveils two new products

The National Lottery Authority (NLA), has introduced two new products onto the market, namely, the Mobile Lottery Platform and Soccer -Cash Game.

Speaking at the launch in Accra, Brigadier-General Martin Ahiaglo, Acting Director-General of the NLA, said the introduction of the new products was in response to the rapid expansion of technology, especially the internet.

He said the new products are pointers to a new direction by the NLA, and its intention to continually diversify, adding that the Authority will continue to introduce such innovative products in the coming years.

“I welcome all our customers to the NLA world, which is full of fun and excitement; a world that gives you a life-changing experience, where you have the chance of making instant fortune. With NLA whenever you play, Ghana wins, and you win, and it is indeed a world where stakeholders are ultimate winners,” he said.

Mr Mahama Ayariga, Minister of Youth and Sports, commended the NLA for rising to the challenge, by coming up with strategies to diversify its portfolio of products and channels, in order to take advantage of opportunities offered in the market.

He said, lottery is serving as a vital source of revenue for socio-economic development all over the world, and such innovative products by the NLA will enable it deliver on its core mandate.

Mr Ayariga said the Ministry fully supports the new products, and called on Ghanaians to patronize it by playing the game responsibly, and contributing to national development.

Mrs Mona Quartey, Deputy Minister of Finance, said government would continue to support the NLA to make it more beneficial to society in a sustainable manner.

“Institutions like the NLA cannot continue to do business in the same old way as their relevance in the economy will surely diminish, and the introduction of the two products are steps in the right direction”.

She said the new products by the NLA are projected to make a net contribution of around six per cent of current NLA gross revenue this year, and 70 per cent of same by 2017.

The “Soccer-Cash” game, is a collaboration between the Ministry of Youth and Sports and NLA, and is sold by NLA Licensed Retailers throughout the country on NLA machines.
