Back to basics policy has been successful, claims Minister

The outreach education programme intiated by hte government to explain its policies and programmes to the people at the grassrrots has revealed the urgent bridge the communication gap between the government and the people.

Dr Ato Quarshie, Minister of Roads and Highways and leader of one of the teams touring Central Region, said this when giving his ipmression about the programme in an interview with the GNA at Apam recently.

He said the programme did not only make the people know about government policies but also made them feel that they were part of the government. He said the people were highly impressed about the government's decision to send a team of ministers, partly officials members of Parliament to ask them to give their views about its performance.

The Minister said the free and frank manner the people needed from the government were the very ones the government had identified as its priorities like electricity water and roads.

He said the people expressed the desire for regular meeting with government officials to make them feel the impact of the participatory democracy.
